Polish catamaran specialist Sunreef Yachts has teamed up with CDR Yachting — a French design studio in Bordeaux, France — to launch a new range of motoryachts called Blue Reef Yachts.

Conceived and developed by CDR, a company that was responsible for developing the majority of motoryacht models for the Couach shipyard in France, the new range of medium-sized monohull poweryachts will be built at Sunreef's Polish shipyard in Gdansk.

The CDR team consists of Pierre Couach, former Couach sales director, naval architect Vincent Duchâtelet and Franck Reynaud, exterior and interior designer.

"We are very glad to have this opportunity to cooperate with such a professional team that has so many interesting ideas for truly functional yachts with state-of-the-art technology on board," says Sunreef VP Nicolas Lapp. "These kinds of yachts are hard to come by on the market which has evolved more towards excess in many aspects. Our experience is that there are many clients that are looking for a yacht just like Blue Reef."

The first yacht currently under development is the Blue Reef 85', a 26m (85ft) motoryacht with cruising speeds of around 20kt. The yacht is said to offer a 20-30 per cent reduction in fuel consumption compared with other yachts of the same size and is due to be launched in winter 2010.
