Antigua & Barbuda Yacht Registry to launch today

The yacht registry is a move by the government to diversify its marine services.

A ceremony recognizing the creation of a yacht registry in Antigua will take place today in St John’s. According to a statement, Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer will address the ceremony.

The Antigua & Barbuda Yacht Registry (ABYR) will be launched by The Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping (ADOMS) as part of a move to diversify the department's services. A statement noted that the government agency seeks to “remain competitive” in an “extremely competitive maritime industry.”

The Yacht Registry, aimed at the megayacht segment, is the major platform of this diversification. The statement said the official launch of the registry will take place after legislative and operational structures have been established.
